$349.00

19th Century Salt Glazed Stoneware Canning Jar | Western Pennsylvania

This salt glazed stoneware canning jar is a striking example of early rare American pottery, finished with freehand brushed cobalt stripes that immediately set it apart.

It solves the need for an authentic early stoneware piece that brings real history, texture, and regional character into the home.

Made in western Pennsylvania between 1870 and 1890, this jar reflects the utilitarian pottery traditions of the region. The salt glaze gives the surface depth and variation, while the hand brushed cobalt decoration adds movement and personality. Age appropriate wear and original glaze imperfections are present and expected, contributing to its authenticity. Found in a collector’s estate, this is a highly collectible piece that works beautifully as a utensil jar or as a standalone decorative object.
