What drew us to this painting is the contrast between the romantic floral subject and its darker, moodier palette. The flowers are anything but delicate in their execution, with thick, almost sculptural strokes that give the composition wonderful movement and character. Up close, you can really see the artist's hand in the built-up petals, sweeping foliage, and areas where the paint has been generously worked across the canvas.
We would hang it just as it is for a relaxed, collected look, although a simple wood frame could give it a more finished presence. Its rich colors would be especially beautiful against a warm neutral wall and mixed with old wood, brass, pottery, and other pieces that feel collected rather than decorated.
