Antique English Pewter Measure | Tavern Measuring Cup brings the wonderfully worn character of an old English pub or tavern to a modern collected home. What makes these especially interesting to us are the old marks. Depending on the individual measure, we found impressed capacity marks, verification marks, maker's stamps, and engraved initials that speak to their original working life. Rather than treating the wear as something to remove, we think the darkened pewter, rubbed edges, old scratches, and irregular surfaces are exactly what make these pieces so good.
We would use one on a bar for cocktail picks or tools, fill it with a small bundle of flowers, or simply leave it empty on a shelf among old books, pottery, and collected objects. They are particularly striking grouped together in different sizes, although each measure in this collection is being sold individually.
