Antique McCoy Pottery Bowl | Blue Windmill Nappy Bowl is a wonderful piece of early American pottery with the kind of character we love to mix into a collected home. Finished in a deep, softly mottled blue glaze, the small bowl is surrounded by a raised scenic design of windmills, boats, trees, and water. The glaze settles beautifully into the embossed details, giving the landscape depth while highlighting the wonderfully aged surface.
Our favorite detail is the continuous landscape wrapping around the outside. A windmill appears on one side while boats and trees continue around the bowl, almost like a little story molded into the pottery. The variations in the old blue glaze settle into the recessed areas and soften along the raised decoration, giving the piece a depth and patina that newer pottery simply does not have.
Traditionally referred to as a nappy bowl, this smaller open form is wonderfully versatile. We would use it as a catchall on a console, filled with small collected objects, or simply left empty among old pottery, books, and natural wood. Its rich blue color also makes it an easy piece to layer into an otherwise neutral room.
Pair it with other timeworn pottery and collected vessels from our Vintage Stoneware & Clay Pottery collection.
Please Note: This is an antique pottery piece with age-related glaze variation, firing marks, surface wear, glaze loss, and imperfections that are part of its character.
