Vintage Scandinavian Wood Serving Tray | Large Danish Modern Style

Mid Century Modern Tray | Danish Style Wood Serving is the kind of vintage piece that can stay out all the time and always find a purpose. Its generous size, warm wood tone, softly rounded edges, and beautifully integrated handles give it that simple Scandinavian look we love. Use it for serving, place it across an ottoman, or let it become a backdrop for a collected grouping on a coffee table or console.

Perfect For:

  • Serving drinks, breakfast, appetizers, or coffee
  • Using as a large ottoman or coffee table tray
  • Creating a collected display with books, pottery, candles, or bowls
  • Styling on a kitchen island or dining table
  • Adding the warmth of vintage wood to a neutral interior

Style It With:
Pair this vintage wood serving tray with pieces from our Vintage Table Decor & Styling Accents collection or layer it with finds from our Vintage Bowls collection. We especially love warm vintage wood mixed with old silver, handmade pottery, clear glass, and natural stone.

This mid century modern tray has the wonderfully restrained design associated with Scandinavian pieces of the 1950s and 60s. The broad rectangular surface is surrounded by a subtle raised edge that gently curves into the handles rather than feeling added on. That seamless transition is such a good detail and gives the entire tray a softer, more sculptural appearance.

And the size is fantastic. At 27 inches long, this isn't a little drinks tray. There's plenty of room for glasses and serving pieces when entertaining, but we could just as easily see it spanning a large ottoman with a stack of books and a favorite bowl. It would also be beautiful on a kitchen island filled with everyday things that suddenly look much more intentional when gathered together.

The wood has developed a rich honey-brown color along with the surface variation and patina that come from years of use. We wouldn't want to erase that history. It's what gives a simple piece like this so much warmth and keeps it from feeling like a new reproduction.

There is also a hand-punched signature or marking on the reverse, an interesting detail that suggests a maker or workshop connection. Because we haven't been able to confidently identify the mark, we're not attributing the tray to a particular designer or manufacturer. The wood also appears consistent with the teak, beech, or oak commonly seen in Scandinavian design, but without a confirmed maker we prefer to leave the exact species open.

We love pieces that are beautiful but don't need to be treated as precious, and this tray is exactly that. Carry it to the table when you're entertaining, leave it on the ottoman the rest of the week, or lean it against a backsplash when it's not being used. The clean shape and warm wood make it incredibly easy to live with.

  • Materials: solid wood; likely teak, beech, or oak
  • Origin: likely Scandinavian or Danish; hand-punched signature or maker's mark on reverse
  • Era: midcentury, circa 1950s-60s
  • Dimensions: 27" L x 15" W x 1" H, including handles
  • Condition: vintage; wear consistent with age and use; natural patina, surface marks, tonal variation, and age-related imperfections present (see photos)
  • Use: serving tray, gallery tray, ottoman tray, coffee table tray, kitchen island display, or decorative styling tray
  • Sourcing: hand selected from a Mid Century Modern collector's estate
  • Design Notes: generously sized vintage wood tray with warm patina, subtle raised edges, softly rounded corners, and beautifully integrated curved handles; hand-punched marking on reverse

Only one available. Once sold, this exact vintage tray cannot be replaced. We especially love its scale. It's substantial enough to anchor a large ottoman or coffee table but simple enough that whatever you put on it becomes the focus. And when it's not being used, we think it's beautiful enough to simply lean against a wall and enjoy the wood and shape.

Please Note: The exact wood species, maker, and country of origin have not been confirmed and are described based on the construction and design of the piece. Due to the vintage and antique nature of our items, all sales are final. Please carefully review all photographs, read the complete description, and verify measurements before purchasing. Condition details, wear, patina, repairs, and imperfections are disclosed to the best of our ability and are part of the character of antique and vintage goods.
