Rare Antique Corkscrew From France With Brush is one of those wonderfully storied utilitarian pieces that we are always hoping to find while sourcing. Found in the French countryside of the Loire Valley, this late 19th to early 20th century corkscrew combines a beautifully turned dark wood handle, forged iron worm, hanging loop, and natural bristle bottle brush. Years of use have given the wood and iron a rich, untouched patina that we would never want to change.
We especially love that nothing about this piece feels decorative for decoration's sake. The brush, corkscrew, and hanging loop were all there to do a job, and more than a century of use has made it beautiful. We would hang it from a small hook near a wine cabinet or leave it out on the bar where its dark wood, old iron, and sculptural shape can be appreciated.
