Vintage Pewter Candlestick Holders by Gorham | Octette Pair have the soft, aged finish and simple sculptural form that make vintage pewter so easy to live with. Made in the USA as part of Gorham's Octette collection, this matching pair of PH29 console candleholders dates to the 1970s. We love their low, substantial proportions and mellow pewter surface, which feels equally at home on a dining table, mantel, or mixed into a collection of older candlesticks.
Gorham produced its Octette pewter hollowware collection from 1974 through 1981, and these PH29 candleholders are part of that discontinued line. Their restrained shape is one of our favorite things about them. There is just enough midcentury influence to give them presence without making them feel tied to one particular decorating style.
We would use the pair together on a dining table or mantel, but they would also be beautiful separated and layered with candlesticks in different metals, shapes, and heights. The softly aged pewter is especially good mixed with brass, silver, old wood, and pottery for the collected rather than decorated look we love.
